2022 National Conference - San Diego, CA
Attend NDIA’s 2022 National Conference for Criminal Defense Investigators, Paralegals, Mitigation Specialists, Social Workers and Attorneys.
Presented by the National Defender Investigator Association (NDIA), for those within the defense community* including criminal defense investigators, paralegals, attorneys, mitigation specialists, and social workers, NDIA will provide a unique training program during this three-day in-person educational conference. We will provide an opportunity to learn from and work with the most successful and forward-thinking investigators, attorneys, mitigation specialists, social workers, paralegals and experts from across the nation who will participate as faculty.
*The defense community does not include any employee or representative of any prosecutorial agency/office.
On-Site Registration and Check-In will take place Tuesday evening, April 26, 2022, from 4:00 - 6:00 pm, and sessions will begin Wednesday morning, April 27th. The conference will run through 1:30 pm, Friday, April 29, 2022.
Members can take advantage of the Early Bird registration fee, our lowest rate, by registering through January 31, 2022. Join NDIA to take advantage of discounted registration fees up until the start of the National Conference. We will also be offering an Agency/Office group registration discount. NDIA Members seeking financial assistance can apply for the Melissa Kupferberg Scholarship (One Recipient per Conference), the Ronald T. Guerette Scholarship (One Recipient per Conference), both of which cover the Conference Registration Fee, Travel and Hotel Accommodations, as well as the Gary Kula Educational Scholarships (One Recipient per Region* per Conference), which covers the Conference Registration Fee ONLY.

Be sure to book your hotel room as soon as possible, since rooms sold out at the 2019 National Conference at the same location in San Diego. We anticipate a great response after isolation and travel restrictions the last two years due to COVID-19. To make your reservation, click HERE, which will direct you to The DANA on Mission Bay reservation form or call 800-445-3339 (and be sure to mention the NDIA Conference to receive the group room rate). This reservation form is defaulted to the peak nights of the conference (4/26/22 - 4/29/22). NDIA training hours are approved to fill the academic training requirements for CDITC (Criminal Defense Investigation Training Council, Center for Investigative Studies) for total hours attended at this NDIA conference. REGISTRATION / CHECK-IN ON-SITE: Conference check-in, or on-site registration, will take place Tuesday, April 26, in the MB Ballroom Terrace from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. Registration packets may also be picked up at this location Wednesday and Thursday. Conference Registration Fee includes all Plenary and Break-Out Sessions across the three-days, coffee bar in the morning and the President’s Reception Thursday, April 28th, which includes light appetizers. Weather permitting, the reception will be held in the outdoor MB Ballroom Terrace. Come network with your fellow investigators and defense community members and take the opportunity to meet some of the faculty and enjoy the Investigator/Paralegal of the Year Award presentation.

HOTEL LOCATION: The DANA on Mission Bay is a full-service San Diego hotel offering a variety of guest rooms and suites situated on 10 acres of tropical landscape. Centrally located within the hotel’s 10 acres, the Marina Cove rooms boast three distinct styles. Each of these standard rooms feature one king size bed or two queens. The standard view, and lanai rooms of Marina Cove have recently been renovated with amenities ranging from refrigerators, hairdryers, coffee makers and microwaves to flat-screen TVs and Wi-Fi. Attendees can also upgrade to the Water’s Edge section of the hotel which is situated in two buildings on Mission Bay, with all deluxe guest rooms and suites with patios or balconies.
AIRPORT / TRANSPORTATION: San Diego International Airport is approximately 7 miles from the DANA on Mission Bay (estimated 14 minutes). Uber or Lyft are allowed at the airport and cost approximately $20 one way. Taxis depart the airport from zones located at the transit islands on the Arrivals/Baggage Claim Level adjacent to the terminal. Average taxi cost is approximately $30 one way. Rental car agencies are served by free shuttle service from multiple locations throughout the terminals. (The hotel does not offer airport transportation, however, does provide a courtesy shuttle available to/from Sea World).
PARKING (On-Site): Discounted Overnight Parking at $15.00 per night ($25.00 Value) for NDIA Conference attendees, one vehicle per room. The DANA has an open parking lot, with no assigned spaces. Guests will receive a parking permit at check-in. For additional vehicles, a parking fee of $20 + tax will apply per vehicle, per room.
